‘Mission Impossible Fallout’ success lands Rebecca Ferguson roles in new ‘Men in Black,’ ‘Shining’ sequel ‘Doctor Sleep’

Mission: Impossible – Fallout has brought amazing and somewhat shocking success, so it’s not surprise that the cast get amazing opportunities in other upcoming big tentpole films. Rebecca Ferguson is certainly a big benefactor of this, landing prime roles in the Men in Black spin-off and Doctor Sleep, which is based on Stephen King’s The Shining sequel novel of the same name.

Deadline broke the news of Ferguson joining the Men in Black spin-off in “a key role” opposite Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.

There are no details on the film, which also stars Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Rafe Spall, and Kumail Nanjani. The new MIB movie will be directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and will arrive in theaters on June 14th.

Thompson will be reprising her role as Agent O with Nanjani playing a character named Pawny.

Deadline’s source also confirmed that Ferguson was also joining Doctor Sleep as Rose the Hat.

Oculus filmmaker Mike Flanagan directs Doctor Sleep, which has Ewan McGregor in the role of the adult Danny Torrance. Rose the Hat is the head of a cult that feeds off the “steam” of young people who shine, like Danny. Fans will be excited to see Ferguson is turning villain for this one.

Flanagan rewrote Akiva Goldsman’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 novel that picks up the life of the Redrum kid when he is in his 40s and struggling with the same demons of anger and alcoholism that plagued his father.
