‘Minions’ meet ‘Godzilla’ in new promo, pics Sandra Bullock’s villain

A new ad for Toho Cinemas sees the Minions of Despicable Me meet Godzilla in a new animated teaser, like the classic Bambi Meets Godzilla sneak, just months after the studio announced a new Toho Godzilla film for 2016.

The Minions have their own movie (with Sandra Bullock) coming in 2015, which deals with the creatures origins as they seek out and serve the most despicable master they can find. Academy Award winner Bullock will lead the voice cast of the human characters as Scarlett Overkill, the world’s reigning super-villain of the 1960s and Jon Hamm co-stars.

“Japan’s Toho is to produce its first Godzilla film since 2004, following the success of this year’s release from Legendary Pictures, the studio behind the original monster announced back in 2014, THR summarized.

Godzilla 2, a follow up to the blockbuster reboot by director Gareth Edwards, is currently set for 2018 as Edwards is helming the first Star Wars standalone film, Rogue One. Several of the creatures from the classic Godzilla series (Rodan et al) are rumored, but nothing is confirmed.

Minions also stars Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Katy Mixon, Loraine Newman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Steve Coogan, and Jennifer Saunders with Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin directing.

Minions arrives in theaters on July 10, 2015.
