Mika Brzezinski asks: Mike Pompeo–A patriot or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy?
Another episode of Morning Joe, another pompous, idiotic or vile statement from co-host Mika Brzezinski.
On a Morning Joe segment Wednesday about the death of Washington Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s performance on “Fox and Friends”, an obviously perturbed Brzezinski said the following:
“But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now? Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on ‘Fox & Friends’ — is that a patriot speaking?” Brzezinski continued. “Or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy? I’m dead serious. I’m asking: Are these the words of a patriot?”
Attempts by MSNBC technical staff to bleep it out were futile (watch here). However, the close-caption employee chose not to type it out.
Hmmmm.
Several questions are fair in this case.
Homophobic? Yea, I think most would say so.
Hypocritical? Yea, Mika would be the first to point this out if someone else (say from Fox) said it.
Will MSNBC or CNN play this non-stop for the next 48 hours and have panel after panel of “experts” provide commentary on it. Nah. Doesn’t fit the narrative.
Is it an offence worth getting fired over? Sure, some would say that. It certainly would be for others.
Will she remain a staple of Morning Joe or MSNBC? Likely, yes.
It wasn’t that long ago when Joy Reid was under scrutiny for homophobic remarks on an old blog and she hosts AM Joy to this day.
Interestingly on Thursday’s show, Joe himself announced that Mika was absent due to a “long-planned family event.”
Brzezinski has offered up an apology.
