Michelle Reid and David Reid identified as husband, wife in Maryland murder suicide

A Johns Hopkins University employee and her estranged husband were found dead in what Montgomery County police are calling a domestic-related murder-suicide.

They are now identified as David Reid Jr., 38, a software engineer, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, and his wife Michelle,39, who shot and killed herself in front of police.

David’s body was found after 11:30pm on Sunday as police responded to a report of arguing and gunshots within the five-level parking garage at the Hidden Creek Apartment Homes. The person calling says they heard six bangs, opened a door and saw a body around 100 feet away.

Officers quickly spotted the wife, hiding between parked vehicles on the garage’s ground level. When officers approached the licensed attorney, she raised a handgun and shot herself.

Residents told the press that the seven-year-long marriage was having problems with loud fighting said to commonplace.

“I never expected this,” says one neighbor to The Dispatch. “Sure I heard them fight and argue, but wow….” he broke off giving the comment. “It’s just sad.”

Investigatiors now report that the couple had recently separated, Michelle moving elsewhere. Despite this negative picture and portrayal, David Reid Jr.’s Facebook page suggested the couple maintained a warm and loving relationship.

“Celebrating my 5 year anniversary with my beautiful wife at Disney World!! Best day since 5 years ago today!!,” the Greensboro, North Carolina-native wrote in a September 2011 status update.

“Just getting back from Jamaica mon! My beautiful wife and I had an INCREDIBLE time there for our 4th year anniversary. What a beautiful place!! We are already planning our next trip there…,” Reid Jr. stated in a September 2010 posting.

In fact, JET Magazine featured the Reids’ September 2006 Dallas wedding. Listed in the weekly magazine’s “Love & Happiness” section, the article told readers about the couple’s professional accolades and their Honeymoon plans to the French Riviera, Florence and Venice, Italy.
