Michelle Pfeiffer can’t wait to see Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in ‘Dark Knight Rises’
Anne Hathaway couldn’t have a bigger fan than former Catwoman Michelle Pfeiffer. The former star of “Batman Returns” sang the praises of the young actress in an interview in the new Empire magazine.
“Oh, I think she’s great. I’m actually very much looking forward to seeing her in the role. I’m a big fan of hers and I think she has everything you need for that role. She has the humor, she can go to dark places, she’s obviously very talented. I think she’s going to be really good.”
Pfeiffer went on to reveal that she very nearly played Catwoman in a solo film helmed by “Batman Returns” director Tim Burton.
“For a while, like a brief time, Tim was interested in maybe doing a Catwoman movie, but that didn’t really last very long.”
The “Dark Shadows” star confessed she wishes she would have snagged one of the leather Catsuits for herself and fans wonder if she would considered returning to the role for Christopher Nolan if given the chance.
“Oh sure. I definitely would have done it.”
Pfeiffer reunites with Burton on this summer’s adaptation of the 1970’s gothic soap opera “Dark Shadows” which stars Johnny Depp as Barnabbas Collins. Pfeiffer plays the family matriarch Elizabeth.
“Dark Shadows” opens in theaters May 11th and “The Dark Knight Rises” lands on July 20, 2012.
