Michelle Malkin calls Rolling Stone the ‘Tiger Beat for Terrorists’ in light of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev cover
With the iconic music and politics magazine facing the boycotts of the latest issue featuring “Boston bomber”, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover, Rolling Stone has seen actions by retail giants like CVS and Walgreens say they would have none of that issue.
In addition, political and other commentators, left and right, have been part of the Tsaraev cover backlash.
On Fox News Channel’s Hannity Wednesday night, columnist Michelle Malkin had some choice words for the pop culture magazine.
“They really need to re-title this magazine, cause it’s now “Tiger Beat for Terrorists and Criminals and Sociopaths”, and I wonder and dred to know whats coming up next, Nidal Hassan with a thousands and thousands of words profile so we can understand more deeply his humanity and complexity. I mean I really just want to throw up, epecially not just looking at the cover, but the actual article itself”, Malkin said.
Malkin goes on to criticize Rolling Stone and their justification for the cover, which is an attempt to appeal to young readers (see Rolling Stone’s statement below) and says, “The writer and the editors are just as muddle headed as ever about our war with Islam, and really jus serves the purposes of Al Qaeda propaganda.”
Malkin list some of the celebrities criticizing the cover to include One Republic, Tommy Lee, Ralph Macchio and Chris Evans.
Pointing her finger at the camera, Malkin says, “Yes when you got Captain America and “the Karate Kid” against you, you really should reassess yourself.”
The Rolling Stone statement reads in full:
“Our hearts go out to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, and our thoughts are always with them and their families. The cover story we are publishing this week falls within the traditions of journalism and Rolling Stone’s long-standing commitment to serious and thoughtful coverage of the most important political and cultural issues of our day. The fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is young, and in the same age group as many of our readers, makes it all the more important for us to examine the complexities of this issue and gain a more complete understanding of how a tragedy like this happens.”
