Michael Taylor, Missouri man executed for 1989 rape and murder of teen, Ann Harrison
A Missouri man, who was convicted of abducting, raping and killing a Kansas City teenager while she waited for a school bus in 1989, was executed early Wednesday morning.
Michael AnthonyTaylor, age 47, was pronounced dead at the state prison in Bonne Terre, Mo. after being put to death by lethal injection.
Taylor and Roderick Nunley pleaded guilty in the kidnapping and stabbing of Ann Harrison, a fifteen year-old girl abducted while waiting for her school bus on March 22, 1989.
The two men raped Harrison and, fearing she could identify them, stabbed her 10 times with kitchen knives. They left her body in the trunk of a stolen car, which was found the next day. DNA evidence later linked the pair with the crime.
In a letter to the girl’s parents Taylor expressed “my sincerest apology and heartfelt remorse.”
“I hope that they’ll accept it,” Taylor said of the letter.
An execution date for Nunley, age 48, has not been set as he remains on death row with appeals pending.
