The bands gather Sundays for worship in what has been nicknamed Jam Church and Tait was quick to say that may be his favorite part of Winter Jam. When asked, the Newsboy singer not only pointed to Nothing but the Blood as a key worship song, actually sings a few bars.

Listen to this classic moment around the 2:54 mark in the interview.

Newsboys’ new album Restart debuted at #1 on the Christian billboard chart and #38 on the overall chart. Tait discusses the effort taken to be relevant saying “The record is one of my favorite records period…make sure we are a full package, I want to be available to the youth – the pediatrics as well as the geriatrics. I want everybody to enjoy the record. Get music into their spiritual lives and walk and ignite their spirit that God’s put inside of them.”

A 2014 film based on the book God’s Not Dead tapped into the star power of the Newsboys and their song which shares the name.

WinterJam 2013“I’m so excited about that movie,” Tait says as he joked about the cameo appearance in the film. “The movie is powerful because of the whole stance of it…just trying to prove God’s existence…sharing the gospel, living the lifestyle, changing the mindset of people around them in this college, in this university.”

Michael Tait proved to be one of the more personable interviews of any artists we’ve ever interviewed – check out the full interview below.
