Melissa Joan Hart, ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ star, talks politics, attacked by opponents
The star of both “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” and “Clarissa Explains It All,” Melissa Joan Hart diverged from the typical Hollywood fodder and dared to discuss her beliefs and support of Republicans.
On Monday, November 5, however, she warned her followers at 8:00 a.m.
“I may get political today but just stating my feelings, not intending to sway anyone or get into arguments. #maylosefollowers.”
A few hours later, she tweeted “Finish this sentence for me… Being a republican in Hollywood is like being…..???? #election2012.”
The responses varied wildly, from respectable to despicable, including some people calling her racist, stupid, greedy, and “a selfish, homophobic bigot.”
The negative responses didn’t stop her. At 1:07 p.m. she tweeted “Cant get too political in only 140 chac but for those asking, I’m voting #RomneyRyan.”
The response was immediate, and mixed. Most who disagreed with her were rude and insulting, including responses like “How can you say that as a woman? Are you that delusional?” Another Twitter users said “You don’t know how to spell character do you? It’s ok… Vote! Idiot.” Yet another claimed to have lost all respect for her.
