Meaghan Casady identified as Florida woman found dead near Riverview shopping center

The naked body of a 21-year-old woman was found behind the Summerfield Shopping Plaza early Saturday has been identified by police and detectives are treating the case as a homicide.

Meaghan Casady was found by a sanitation truck driver Saturday around 7:20am, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find the body lying in the grass near the edge of some water.

Currently they say the the death is suspicious, an autopsy has been scheduled and they will be searching surveillance video for leads.

“That’s part of our investigation,” Col. Donna Lusczynski of the sheriff’s office said. “A number of businesses have cameras, and we’re working with them to get video and film.”

The police investigation is ongoing.

Casady was arrested in October for third degree grand theft.

Detectives are asking anyone with knowledge of Casady’s activities in recent days contact the sheriff’s office.
