McCain-Gohmert back-and-forth continues, John McCain says Louie Gohmert has ‘no intelligence’
It all started last week when Texas Republican representative said Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) “supports Al Qaeda” and it hasn’t stopped as the two Republican stalwarts continue with the jabs.
McCain, not one to back off from a spar or to name-call (remember wacko birds?), told NBC’s Brian Williams, “On that particular issue, sometimes comments like that are made out of malice, but if someone has no intelligence, I don’t view it as being a malicious statement. You can’t respond to that kind of thing.”
Gohmert would not take McCain’s ridicule lying down telling The Daily Beast:
“Obviously, Senator McCain would be better off with ‘no intelligence’ since he does not know the Syrian opposition he met with is infested with al Qaeda and terrorist kidnappers. His ‘intelligence’ even caused him to support the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt that burned churches and killed Christians, as the senator stood against the will of the massive majority of Egyptians including moderate Muslims, Christians, and secularists who demanded the Muslim Brotherhood extremist persecutions must end.”
The McCain-Gohmert battle is just one of many in the Republican Party where the establishment and Tea Party wings frequently show animosity towards each other.
