Maryland: John Martin identified as body found in Middle River
The body found in the water at the mouth of Middle River in Essex on Wednesday morning has been identified by Maryland Natural Resources Police as John G. Martin.
The body of Martin, 58, was found about 7:30 a.m. near the 600 block of Rockaway Beach Avenue, police spokeswoman Candy Thomson said.
Baltimore County police spoke to the press, identifying Martin, of the 2400 block of Rochelle Drive in Fallston, who had been reported missing earlier. Police had been told that Martin was believed to be in the area of his boat at the Baltimore Yacht Club.
Natural Resources Police divers had been assisting in an unsuccessful search for the body of Martin in the area on Tuesday.
They were called to the scene Wednesday by the Baltimore County Fire Department, which is leading the investigation. Police will continue to investigate how Martin ended up in the water.
An investigation by the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. No additional details were available Wednesday.
