Maryland: $100K reward for information into Halloween shooting and murder of mailman Tyson Barnette
The US Postal Inspection Service is reportedly offering $100,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the shooting death of a mailman shot and killed on Halloween, according to a Nov. 25 Fox News report.
Tyson Jerome Barnette, age 26, was delivering mail around 7pm when he was shot in Landover.
U.S. Postal Service spokesman George T. Maffet Jr. told the press Barnette had been a USPS worker for six years. Barnette was reportedly on his second route of the day, which pushed his shift so late.
“Mr. Barnette was a wonderful person,” Stanley Johnson, who was once Barnette’s manager, said at vigil for the man. “(He’s) the kind of person that would do anything for you.”
Prince George County police have not identified any suspects and have not determined the motive.
Police are passing out flyers and inspectors have begun searching nearby woods and storm drains for clues. Authorities and the USPS point out that the violence against postal carriers is extremely rare.
