Marvel ready to get Russos back for ‘Captain America 3’
While Captain America: The Winter Soldier is still over two months away, Variety reports Marvel is set to sign the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, for the third Cap film.
The article notes that official negotiations won’t occur until after the film opens, but states “Marvel has been so impressed with the production of the film, as well as with strong results from recent test screenings, that the studio has moved fast to attach the brothers to the next installment.”
Chris Evans is certain to return, as well as, Kevin Feige producing Captain America 3.
The Russos, who previously directed over 30 episodes of NBC’s Community, stepped in to direct Captain America: Winter Soldier in 2012 after Joe Johnson helmed the first installment.
Marvel currently has two release dates in 2016 and one in 2017 for unspecified titles, so it’s safe to assume that Captain America 3 will be one of them, likely 2017 if the three-year separation between films is any indication.
