Marvel hires writing team for ‘Thor 3’ as a Phase Three film

While there are no details and fans may be surprised, but Marvel Studios has moved forward on their third Thor film hiring a writing team.

Thor dark world hemsworth behind the scenesCraig Kyle, writer and producer for many of Marvel’s animated efforts, a producer on both previous Thor films, and who has been a VP of Production and Development at Marvel, will co-wrote Thor 3. His partner will be Christopher Yost, who did a polish re-write on the Thor: The Dark World script.

The news confirms some plans for the Phase 3 films and Variety spoke with Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige about the news.

“I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years,” Feige said. “His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”

Kyle has teased the potential of Ragnarok in interviews given over the past year, so that could be something for fans to look forward to.

No word on a director as Alan Taylor will be directing Terminator: Genesis and may not be able to return to the Thor franchise.

Marvel has two “Unknown” projects slated for 2016 and 2017, so expect Thor 3 to land in one of those spots.
