Mark Hamill attacks Trump cabinet as ‘who’s who of really despicable people’

Star Wars star Mark Hamill took aim at President-elect Donald Trump saying he’s in “total denial” over the election results. The actor known for playing Luke Skywalker formed a political image of the Trump cabinet, calling them “despicable.”

“I’m glad I have [my new show ‘Pop Culture Quest’] to take my mind off what’s going on,” Hamill told the Daily Beast. “Because if you look at what’s being assembled for our government it’s like, yikes. It’s a who’s-who of really despicable people.”

Hamill did not mention any of Trump’s appointments by name. Several Cabinet positions have been filled since he won the election earlier this month.

He continued, “And not to retreat and hide under the covers. It’s not going to be easy, that’s for sure.”

Hamill sympathizes with those whose Thanksgiving gatherings turned into political dogfights this year—inevitable when “half the people in the country are thrilled and delighted and half the people are disgusted, repulsed, and embarrassed.”

He noted that his three now-grown kids “turned out alright.”

Later he alluded to the liberal havens like New York, compared to “fly over country”: “It is frightening,” he adds. “As the recent election showed us, you realize that you’re probably in a minority when you thought you were in the majority in terms of what you consider normal and okay…But it’s like a drop in the ocean. You do what you can and keep your fingers crossed. I always say [to those kids], hang in there, it gets much better. You won’t believe the difference when you move out of Oklahoma and to New York.”

The new White House strategist, ex-Breitbart editor Steve Bannon, relishes it: “Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That’s power,” Bannon told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month.
