Marion Cotillard assures fans her ‘Dark Knight Rises’ role is a ‘good guy’

Ra’s al Ghul will back in “The Dark Knight Rises” in some mysterious way. When fans heard Marion Cotillard joined the ensemble cast of this summer’s Batman film, the assumption was that the “Inception” would play Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Talia.

Cotillard confirms she is not a villain during an interview with THR published Wednesday promoting the new issue of Hollywood Reporter.

“(Miranda Tate)…is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.”

The article says the star was pressed to see if Tate stays “good” and the star gave a pithy response.

“Yes.”

Reuniting with director Christopher Nolan was both exciting, yet a juggle around her pregnancy as the French actress explained how Nolan reworked the shooting schedule around the birth of her first child.

“I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, his next movie is supposed to be Batman!’ And I’ve always been obsessed with Batman. (after discovering the shoot was in May) I called Chris and said, ‘My God, I can’t do that!’ “

Nolan waited as the “Contagion” star is now part of this summer’s blockbuster. Whether she is ‘good’ or not, set photos from “Rises” fueled the rumors as she climbed onto a tumbler during the Pittsburgh shoot.

“The Dark Knight Rises” concludes the trilogy by Nolan and returns Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway join the cast as Bane and Catwoman with another “Inception” star (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) onboard as well.

“The Dark Knight Rises” opens in theaters on July 20, 2012.
