Margaret Campbell, of Perry County in Mississippi, remains behind bars on murder charges. Campbell is accused of murdering her husband Robert Campbell, age 74, but now faked a normal life in front of family members, while Robert Campbell’s body was on the floor of his home.

Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith said, “There was some kind of argument or altercation between the two and she shot him in the back.”

WAFB details the reports by authorities, the murder occurred back on April 8. Investigators said for more than three months Campbell acted as if nothing had happened. She went about her everyday business as if all was well, but family members knew something wasn’t right.

Sheriff Smith said, “We got a welfare check from his sister to go out and check on him to see how they were. There was nobody at home at the time, the deputies stopped and talked to the neighbors who said yeah they had seen the car go in and out several different times but everything appeared to be ok.”

Two weeks later Margaret Campbell’s daughter called authorities with concerns.

“They went back after the second call and the deputies found a body inside the trailer, said Smith.”

Authorities said  that’s when they found his decomposed body laying in the living room floor. He had been shot in the back.

Investigators said after murdering her husband, she would return to the crime scene every other day to feed the animals.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered Campbell to undergo a mental evaluation and set bond at $350,000.
