‘Man of Steel’ Henry Cavill joins Tom Cruise for ‘Mission Impossible 6’

Henry Cavill has joined the cast of Mission Impossible 6 as the Man of Steel star broke the news to the world himself. Cavill took to Instagram to announce the news.

“I like a good challenge. Like hanging from a moving plane…or balancing from a cliff by my fingertips…or scaling a skyscraper. I guess I’ll just have to get my practice in and join the fun for the next Mission Impossible. Thanks for the invite, @ChristopherMcQuarrie. #MissionImpossible #MI6”

Mission Impossible 6 director Christopher McQuarrie will again team up with Tom Cruise to bring another Ethan Hunt adventure to theaters. McQuarrie’s big response to the news breaking: “We aim to please.”

McQuarrie then had some fun with Cavill on social media as the pair tagged each other back on forth.

“@henrycavill excellent. Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?”

“@christophermcquarrie only if I get to fly for real.”

“@henrycavill I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in?”

“Oh ok…..I’m in!” Cavill replied.

The director then capped off the convo in a Mission:Impossible-esque fashion. “@henrycavill Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds.”

Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jeremy Renner are all confirmed to return, reprising their roles from previous films. The Crown star, Vanessa Kirby, has been cast as a new female lead, said to be similar to Ferguson’s in the last film. There has been no official confirmation of other cast members from the earlier MI films: Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin or Ving Rhames.

Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the forthcoming Justice League filmdirected by Zack Snyder, arriving in theaters during November.
