‘Madam Secretary’ season 5 sounds likely as Sam Daly has ‘hope’ for more Win Barrington, adapting more political debauchery

While promoting his next two films, Office Uprising, with Zachary Levi, Brenton Thwaites, Jane Levy, and the RZA directed Cut Throat City, actor Sam Daly talked about the success of Madam Secretary.

“It’s just really fun to play a super WASP-y pot lobbyist,” Daly jokes about his role on the popular CBS political drama. “…These guys are the future politicians and leaders of the world,” he says, likening his character, Win Barrington, to the powerful players in Washington. “They really are lobbyists of the future…”

During the interview on Dispatch Radio, it’s around the 9 minute mark in the interview the conversation turned to Madam Secretary and Daly praised the experience thus far, loves “being part of a show my dad has a leading role on” (Tim Daly plays Henry McCord), explaining how their stories don’t put them on screen together, but alludes that could change.

“That could be a possibility in the future. That would be really fun and I hope we do get to…”

Madam Secretary is rolling through season 4 right now, likely wrapping up in May (no official date for the finale has been announced) with a renewal likely and fans will get to see a season five.

“I hope there’s a lot more for Win Barrington,” Sam says after praising the amazing cast and team on Madam Secretary. “…and it looks like that could come true.”

Host Brandon Jones and Sam discusses the “real life debauchery” which fuels shows like Madam Secretary and House of Cards, how the “show writes itself sometimes,” prompting Sam to confess: “Absolutely.”

“Of course, nowadays, the reality of real life politics is so crazy, you couldn’t it make up…,” he says of the show pulling “from reality and make a fictional story around real life events.”

The extensive talks includes Sam’s work in film, growing up in the celebrity house, wanting to be a Laker and how he got the acting bug. Sam started with a role in The Education of Charlie Banks which featured an amazing cast and starring with his dad in an upcoming film project titled “That’s Just Not Right” as well as doing voice work together.
