‘Mad Men’ star Jared Harris cast in ‘Poltergeist’ remake
MGM’s Poltergeist remake has added some more star-power to its steadily-growing cast, with Jared Harris (Mad Men, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) joining the project.
Deadline reports that Harris will play “Carrigan, a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show Haunted House Cleaners.”
Harris will join Rosemarie DeWitt, while Sam Rockwell is set to play the male lead. DeWitt and Rockwell will be playing the Bowens, a married couple who find themselves struggling with the recession and forced to downsize into a creaky old home out in the suburbs.
Kyle Catlett has also joined the cast as the couple’s young son
Harris will next be seen in Hammer’s The Quiet Ones.
Directed by Gil Kenan, the remake of the Tobe Hooper 1982 classic will feature Sam Raimi on production duties.
Kenan directed Monster House and City of Ember.
Poltergeist is expected to arrive in cinemas at some point in 2014, filming to begin soon.
