Luke Evans reportedly set for ‘The Crow’ reboot, likely after ‘Dracula’ role
Sources from Relativity claim that Luke Evans has agreed to the title role in The Crow, set to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez.
Deadline confirmed in a May 4 article that Evans was the original choice, but his schedule was full and the studio sought other actors: Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy, Thor star Tom Hiddleston and Alexander Skarsgard.
Hiddleston even had an extensive makeup test: ” “Hiddleston recently had dinner with producers and sent them a makeup test that he did on his own in London. He will undergo a proper makeup test in the coming days, as the character’s appearance is important to fans of the franchise, who should be delighted with the casting of a major member of the Marvel universe.” (More details here)
Evans was just cast as Dracula in the film by the same name, former called Dracula Year Zero, which is an origin story. A key role in Fast & Furious 6 and playing Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug all appeared to keep Evans unavailable.
Relativity has decided to push the start date to early next year to accommodate his schedule in order to secure Evans, who is currently promoting the release of Fast 6.
Shooting in early 2014 will likely push the film into 2015.
