‘Luke Cage’ series to premiere on September 30
In a new video released by Comic Book Movie, Mike Colter dropped news that Luke Cage will premiere in September while on the red carpet premiere of Daredevil season two.
Luke Cage, the character, debuted during the first season of Jessica Jones, so fans are eager to see more of Colter’s Cage and expand the universe, likely introducing Iron Fist. That wait will end on September 30th.
Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, and Sonia Braga also star.
Creator Joe Quesada addressed the Iron Fist character and how that will fit.
“Our goal is to provide four different shows that each have their own feel while, again, feeling like they are a part of a whole. Not an easy task, but I can tell you that our team is really fantastic at doing this.” Quesada tells Decider. “It’s still the early stages of Iron Fist, so I’m a little hesitant to say too much more than that. But Danny Rand is a completely different character and the world that he comes from, how he obtained his powers and his skills — all completely different.”
No surprise, the Marvel Universe will expand.
“We’re not just locking ourselves into Hell’s Kitchen — although a lot of stuff does go on in Hell’s Kitchen. Luke Cage’s world is still New York, but it’s a different neighborhood. Again, I don’t want to reveal too much more than that, but the show itself will have a different palate, a different feel, a tone. It will sound different. So stay tuned.”
