‘Lone Ranger’ crew member dies

A member of the crew on Disney‘s “The Lone Ranger” died early this morning in Los Angeles, where he was involved in setting up for an underwater scene.

Deadline reports that he was not a stuntman, and that the death did not occur during shooting — drowned or had a heart attack.

The studio released this statement:

“We regretfully confirm that a Lone Ranger crew member has passed away after being taken to a local hospital.  Our hearts and thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this time, and our full support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this terrible event.”

TMZ added that law enforcement sources tell us, it appears he had a heart attack. Investigators are treating it as a “natural death.” An autopsy will be completed over the weekend.

Thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

“The Lone Ranger” stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Helena Boham Carter, Barry Pepper, Tom Wilkinson  and directed by Gore Verbinski.

“Ranger” comes to theaters on July 3, 2013.
