Lew Rockwell: ‘Ron Paul deserves the Nobel Peace Prize’ (Video)

During the wonderful line-up of speakers,Saturday at the PAUL Festival was Lew Rockwell. Rockwell is the founder of the website lewrockwell.com, a former Chief of Staff for Congressman Ron Paul and the chairman/CEO of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

As a man who knows Dr Paul well, probably going on four decades, Rockwell had much to say about his colleague and former boss.

The words Mr. Rockwell had to say about the Congressman’s foreign policy were most significant.

After speaking on how Dr. Paul could not be bought off, how he wouldn’t vote yes on some bogus bill and “He didn’t offer his followers a spot on the federal gravy train”, Rockwell said a most profound statement:

Some people say, “I love Ron Paul, except for his foreign policy.” But that foreign policy reflects the best and most heroic part of who Ron Paul is. Peace is the linchpin of the Paulian program, not an extraneous or dispensable adjunct to it. He would never and could never abandon it.

Later in the speech, Lew Rockwell proclaims, ‘Ron Paul deserves the Nobel Peace Prize’.

Ron Paul has consistently voted on the side of peace. He voted against HJ Res 114, “Use of Military Force against Iraq in October 2002.

In 1999, Congressman Paul spoke about the Iraq situation years prior to our attack most eloquently on the House floor:

“We have perpetuated hostilities and sanctions for more than 8 years on a country that has never threatened our security, and the legal justification comes from, not the US Congress, as the Constitution demands, but from a clearly unconstitutional authority, the United Nations”.

Several years prior to George W. Bush’s War in Iraq, Rep. Paul voted against Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998, a precursor to the quagmire of the next decade.

He voted to remove US troops from the Balkans in 1999, he voted for requiring a timetable to withdraw from Afghanistan and he voted against putting ground forces into Libya and voted for removing US forces from Libya. This is just a small snapshot of votes he made in the name of the Constitution, his oath and in keeping America strong and secure.

What about the use of military force in Afghanistan? Dr. Paul, of course voted for getting those responsible for the heinous, murderous acts on September 11.

During the Republican Primary debates both in 2008 and 2012, only he stood for peace and the rule of law versus his opponents who at least on the surface, crave war.

More recently, Dr. Paul has come out against all the warmongering from those on both sides of the aisle for military action against Syria and Iran.

President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize at about the same time he began his record breaking drone frenzy.

Does Lew Rockwell have it correct? Does Ron Paul deserve the Nobel Peace Prize? We’ll let the very long, consistent record speak for itself.
