‘Lethal Weapon’ star Danny Glover joins ‘Jumanji 3’
Lethal Weapon co-star Danny Glover has been added to the cast of the Jake Kasdan-directed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel joining original stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.
Awkwafina and Danny DeVito were recently announced as part of the cast for Sony’s next film in the franchise, which is slated to arrive in theaters December 13.
Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, and Kasdan are returning as producers on the project.
Glover starred with Robert Redford in David Lowery’s The Old Man & the Gun and has a role in A24’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco, which is slated to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month.
Jumanji 3 comes two years after 2017’s mega-hit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which was a sequel to the Robin Williams 1995 Jumanji. The 2017 film followed a group of teens that get sucked into a video game and are turned into avatars on a jungle adventure. That film was a massive success, earning a worldwide total of $962M is second for Sony, trailing only Skyfall ($1.1B).
