‘Legion’ season 3 casts Lauren Tsai as the mutant named Switch

The FX X-Men spin-off Legion heads into its third season and now Variety adds a new cast member.

“Lauren Tsai has joined the third season of Legion at FX,” Variety reported, noting that “Tsai joins the series in the role of Switch, described as a young mutant whose secret ability serves as the key to executing David Haller’s plan.”

The third season of Legion is slated to air in 2019.

Season three began filming in November and is expected to wrap up in March this year. With a 2019 air-date confirmed, fans should expect the first episode to land in October.

The show is based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, the series follows David Haller (Dan Stevens), a man who believed himself to be schizophrenic only to discover that he may actually be the most powerful mutant the world has ever seen – the son of Professor X.

Tsai previously made her television debut on the Japanese-language reality series “Terrace House: Aloha State.” She is primarily known for her work as a model and artist. Her role on Legion mark her television acting debut. She is primarily known for her work as a model and artist.

Legion also stars Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Bill Irwin, Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement, Hamish Linklater, and Navid Negahban.

Noah Hawley serves as executive producer, along with John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jeph Loeb.

Series writer Nathaniel Halpern is co-executive producer.

Legion is produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television, with FXP handling the physical production.

On the renewal: FX original programming president Eric Schrier announced: “Legion has redefined the superhero drama and exceeded all expectations as the intensity and revelation build through the second season.

“We are incredibly proud of Noah Hawley’s achievement and are honoured to continue the series as it pushes the boundaries of conventional television storytelling.

“We are also grateful for the contributions of our executive producers, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jeph Loeb with Marvel Television, as well as our outstanding cast and crew of this groundbreaking show.”
