Lee Perkins interview: ‘Foxcatcher,’ Steve Carell transformed in his role
Actor Lee Perkins previews the new film Foxcatcher, working with Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and director Bennett Miller in a new interview with Dispatch Radio.
Carell’s John du Pont has a love for wrestling and strives for a gold medal in the Olympics, but things don’t go well. Perkins plays a U.S. Army Corporal who works with du Pont with military equipment and says Carrell underwent a “total transformation” into his character and was amazed that he even “breathed differently.”
Lee praises Tatum and Miller on set, adding compliments for the director’s technique and approach.
This contasts his experience on Wild Card, a remake of Burt Reynolds’ Heat, and working with Simon West, who has a “different type of energy” as he worked alongside Jason Statham.
Perkins also co-starred in Girl in Woods, Branded and chronicled the interesting sequence of events which led him to the shoot in Tennessee, working with Jeremy London and how he ended up cast in the 2013 shoot for Branded.
Lee comes from a very interesting background, finding success on Formula 3 racing circuit and even taking classes until the teachings of Jeff Goldblum and others.
Foxcatcher opens in theaters November 14, 2014
