Lance Reddick talks ‘Fringe’ series finale, playing Broyles and the Observers

“Fringe” concludes the five season run with the Jan. 18 series finale and the show’s creators/cast are proud of their sci-fi television hit.

“We came about in the wake of The X-Files and Battlestar Galactica, and each of them redefined science fiction television in a completely different way,” notes Lance Reddick in a Jan. 18 CBM interview.

Lance Reddick FringeReddick plays Broyles and adds “At the same time, Fringe is a completely different kind of show from those two. I feel that science fiction is an exploration of human relationships, and that’s something we’ve done more than any other show.”

“In terms of the mysteries that were introduced in the first season, the Observers is the only key one that has… never really been resolved,” Reddick told Give Me My Remote.

“Given that this season is all about the Observers, I think that makes this the perfect season and the perfect way to end the series.”

He added: “I think when it’s over the fans will miss it, but I don’t think they’ll be disappointed at all.”

The “Oldboy” star says as Broyles will return and says he’s played “five different versions of Broyles.”

“The thing that has been so interesting for me has been playing so many different versions of the same character,” adding that is kept interesting to play a character who is “more functional” than “dramatic.”

Reddick doesn’t even have words to describe the opportunity to be apart of so many “groundbreaking” Tv series like “Fringe” and “Oz.”

“I don’t know if ‘Lucky’ is the word…this is the fourth one in a row.”
