Kymberley Lucas murders toddler, mentions test of Abraham in Bible in note
God’s test of Abraham may have been what planted the thought in a Florida woman’s mind to murder her former gay partner’s two children and attempt to kill herself.
Kymberley Dawn Lucas (also spelled as Kimberly Dawn Lucas) is accused of murdering Elliana Lucas-Jamason, age 2, and attempting to kill Ethan Jameson, 10, following a church sermon from Genesis centering on the sacrifice of Isaac.
On the woman’s laptop was a Word document stating: “Lea’s sermon really, really touched me yesterday, but God never told me to stop!” Lea being Rev. Dr. Lea Brown, senior pastor at the Metropolitan Community Church of the Palm Beaches.
According to court documents read by The Global Dispatch, Lucas reportedly gave the boy a “pill would make him grow faster and gave it to him in a cup of coffee.” Lucas gave half of a pill to the girl, but she wouldn’t drink it. Ethan had fallen asleep and awoke to discover his sister’s dead body in the bathtub.
The 10-year-old attempted CPR on his sister while calling 911. “I think he’s the bravest person I’ve ever met,” Jupiter Police Chief Frank Kitzerow said of the boy.
Lucas, 40, was found unconscious, police said.
the boy tested positive for Bezodiazepine, a class of anxiety drugs that includes Valium.
The Rev. Brown told TV station WPEC that she did not regret giving the sermon as “it’s what I was called to do,” and that “there’s no way anyone could have predicted this.”
Lucas’ attorney said that she had suffered a severe head injury last fall and that there was “no doubt” that this had affected her behavior, reports the Christian Post.
The children’s biological mother, Jacqueline Jamason, and Lucas had recently split, but neighbors report the two were “working it out” and “trying to be there.”
