Kristin Cavallari questioned by Kennedy about vaccines, Jenny McCarthy blasted on Twitter

The topic of vaccination and celebrities that don’t vaccinate their kids came up on television and social media recently that has received a lot of attention , especially in the wake of increased numbers of measles being reported in the United States this year and a pretty massive whooping cough outbreak in 2012, in fact, the worst outbreak in 50 years in this country.

Reality television star and wife of Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari, made an appearance on Fox Business News program, The Independents and was interviewed by former MTV VJ Kennedy.

While the early part of the interview centered around her new show and her jewelry and shoe designs, Kennedy quickly brought the conversation to vaccinations,”Are you opposed to vaccines?”

“We didn’t vaccinate”, Cavallari answered. “You know what? I have read too many books about autism. There is a pediatric group called Homestead, or Home First? Pregnancy brain, I’ve got it confused, they’ve never vaccinated any of their children and they haven’t had one case of autism. And now, 1 in 88 boys is autistic, which is a really scary statistic … The vaccinations have changed over the years, there’s more mercury and other…”

Kennedy promptly rebutted, “My mom vaccinated us and she didn’t have any cases of autism either. Is that weird?”

Cavallari later went on HuffPost Live, only to claim “I sort of got bombarded in this interview and thrown off-guard.”

And then there was Jenny McCarthy. The former  Playmate of the Year and current host on The View went to her Twitter page to ask the question for #JennyAsks –“What is the most important personality trait you for in a mate?

Some of the tweeted answers certainly poked at McCarthy’s anti-vaccine crusade with a hint of humor:
