Koreen Medina takes third runner-up in Miss Intercontinental 2013 pageant

Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific Intercontinental 2013 and Quezon City resident, Koreen Medina, has been crowned third runner-up in the 2013 Miss Intercontinental pageant in Germany today.

Miss Russia,  Ekaterina Plekhova beat out 59 contestants from throughout the world and won the top spot Saturday evening at the Maritim Hall, Maritim Hotel Madgeburg, Magdeburg.

Plekhova was followed by Miss Puerto Rico,  Aleyda Ortiz, Miss Colombia,  Margarita Peralta, Medina, and Miss South Africa, Kayla Nel.

For the 18-year-old Medina, she follows in a long line of beauty contestants from the Philippines to land in the Top 5 in international pageants in 2013.

The Philippines has chalked up victories with Megan Young (Miss World), Mutya Datul(Miss Supranational), and third runner-up showings by Ariella Arida and Annalie Forbes in the Miss Universe and Miss Grand International competitions.

In addition to being crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific Intercontinental 2013 earlier this year, Koreen  was a Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 contestant, the Grand Prize winner in the Coca-Cola Music Talent Search Finals in 2011, and the Grand Winner of “My Girl,” a pageant-like search on ABS-CBN.
