‘Kong Skull Island’ to have origins as JK Simmons discusses film, Tom Hiddleston stars

Kong: Skull Island is the latest King Kong film in the works, as it is said to be the prequel of other previous King Kong movies. Avengers and Thor actor Tom Hiddleston, who will be one of the main characters in the movie, has been reported to have started preparing for his role.

This new film will be set in 1970s Detroit and will “reboot” and address the origins of the famous Ape monster.

Actor JK Simmons said in an interview that “When it first came to my attention, ‘There’s interest in you for a new King Kong,’ I thought, ‘Okay, why? I met with Jordan Vogt-Roberts who’s going to be directing it, and John Gatins who’s gonna be writing, and Tom [Hiddleston]-Jordan was just so passionate and so smart and there’s such an interesting new take on it, and it’s set in Detroit in 1971 which is where I grew up, and we’re gonna shoot in Detroit during baseball season and I’ll be able to go to Tigers games, so there’s a lot to like about this movie.”

Many fans speculate that the movie might contain a series of flashbacks, given that it will be a prequel of the other King Kong movies, and also the fact that the character died in the 1930s.

Kong: Skull Island’s plot will be about a group explorers who goes deep within the home of King Kong.

Part of its synopsis reads, “Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), “Kong: Skull Island” will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.”

Reports say that the film will include an infamous chemical company, and it will reportedly explain how King Kong reached its gigantic size.

Kong: Skull Island‘s screenplay will be by John Gatins, and script by Max Borenstein and is set to hit theaters in March 10, 2017.
