Knoxville murder suicide: Judith Nye killed by son, James Nye – dead ‘for a few days’
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide in the Village Green subdivision in Farragut on South Williamsburg Drive. Police have identified the two individuals as Judith Nye and James Nye.
Detectives explained that James Nye, 54, fatally shot his mother before killing himself.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kimberly Glenn confirmed the identities of both individuals, including the victim Judith Nye, 75.
Glenn also confirmed that the pair were mother and son, and appeared to have been in the home for a few days.
Brad Hall, acting deputy chief, said on Saturday authorities were not at liberty to say what kind of weapon was used and would not confirm that it had been a shooting or offer any details other than that it appeared to be a murder-suicide.
The bodies of the mother and son were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office and Glenn stated that the autopsy results will be back in a couple of days.
The bomb squad did a sweep of the scene but found no bombs, Glenn said, explaining that an officer found a note inside the home Saturday that made one of the deputies suspicious.
