KISS star Gene Simmons tells immigrants to learn English, political correctness is ‘BS’
KISS frontman Gene Simmons appeared on HuffPost Live and spoke with host Ricky Camilleri about KISS’s new 40th anniversary/Heroes tour and the reality series “4th and Loud.”
The conversation quickly turned into Simmons opining about immigrants today and their reluctance, in his mind, to learn English. Excerpts and clip below.
Gene Simmons: “I’m actually saying the thing that needs to be said, because the politically-correct climate is bulls***.”
Ricky Camilleri: “What is the politically-correct climate in regards to immigrants though?”
Simmons: “You don’t want to upset anybody by saying, ‘Learn to speak goddamn English.’ So, as an immigrant, I’m telling you: learn to speak goddamn English. It is the key that will unlock the keys to the kingdom. If you make the effort then all the possibilities of this culture will open up for you and give you all the rewards that I’ve gotten.”
Camilleri: “You don’t think that’s easier said than done for some people though?”
Simmons: “Of course it’s difficult but why should it be easy?… How about this: if Siri can’t understand you, you’re in trouble.”

Simmons was born in Israel and arrived in America at age eight, unable to speak English. His mother and uncle were the only family members to survive the holocaust.
