Kirk and Laura Knight discuss ‘Newlyweds’ and their first year, Razzd.com and season 2
Bravo landed a hit with Newlyweds, a show which follows four couples during their first year of marriage. Kirk and Laura spoke to Dispatch Radio about the show, which is now starting their second season and how their “complicated lives” melded together.
Kirk and Laura were the stereotypical “power couple” in Newlyweds season 2, with Kirk running a real estate investment company and an Internet start-up, while Laura owned an insurance brokerage and is a pilates instructor.
A “unique experience” was how Laura describes the idea of capturing that first year of their marriage for the world to see, which could be “shared with our future children and grandchildren…We really had to open up our lives to the film crew and what we were willing to share.”
Kirk and Laura both reflect on the first season, what expectations and surprises arose during their first year of marriage and how each have adapted.
“We recorded certain things that transpired in our lives,” Kirk explained on capturing footage outside the ability of Bravo’s film team, before the pair opened up about the compromise marriage brings. “Realizing I’m not number one,” Kirk says. “Marriage….you have to put your partner in front of you…..and where a strong relationship comes from.”
The Knights are truly open on the show and during our talk, which dove into marriage tips, challenges, planning a family and Kirk’s Internet app which has been really successful.
