Kim Maroney and Lora Whitehead, Florida women arrested when crack found in dentures
Deputies from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s made an unusual discovery Saturday after they stopped a truck seen leaving a known drug house.
The CCSO issued a media release outlining the details that led to the arrest of 49-year-old Kimberly Joyce Maroney and 25-year-old Lora Ashley Whitehead. According to the report, the two women were seen arriving at a known drug house Saturday, leaving a short time later in a GMC pickup truck. Deputies followed the pickup truck to the parking lot of a close business; prompting the driver of the truck to drive away. Deputies then stopped the pickup truck due to suspicious activity.
According to the report, deputies approached the car ad found two very nervous women inside. The deputy noticed needle marks on one of the women’s arms and hands and asked her to step out of the car. The woman, who was later identified as Whitehead, stepped out of the car and handed the deputy a used syringe she reportedly used to inject herself with crack cocaine just prior to being pulled over.
The deputy also discovered the second woman, identified as Maroney, had a crack pipe in her purse which had a piece of crack cocaine embedded in a Brillo pad that was stuck in one side of the crack pipe. The deputy then noticed Maroney using her tongue to move something around in her mouth, which prompted him to ask her to open her mouth.
According to the report, Maroney opened her mouth, revealing top and bottom dentures. Still suspicious, the deputy asked Maroney to remove the dentures, which when removed exposed three pieces of crack cocaine that was hiding within them.
