Kim Kardashian, Kanye West in the middle of TSA investigation, delays at airport
An American Airlines employee is being investigated after allowing “Kimya”: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to bypass airport security.
TMZ now reports that the company is taking responsibility for the incident, explaining, “This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees.”
AA adds, “We’re working closely with the TSA and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened.”
The celebrity couple was led through a “back way,” bypassing security in order to help them make their connecting domestic flight.
TSA officers learned what happened, caught up with Kardashian and West at the gate and screened them for contraband in the jetway, causing a delay of almost an hour.
“In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to by-pass the TSA security checkpoint.”
TSA reported that it was not Kim and Kanye’s fault …explaining, “An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight.”
The reality star, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend West in July, was flying home with the rapper after a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where they enjoyed the city’s annual Carnival celebration.
They landed in Los Angeles slightly behind schedule but seemed little phased by the incident as they deplaned to a swarm of paparazzi.
