Kevin Sorbo discusses ‘God’s Not Dead,’ standing up to atheist assertions and supporting faith based films

EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Sorbo will likely be remembered forever for his role in Hercules, a breakout role in an incredibly successful show, but Sorbo’s resume continues to grow. Sorbo’s latest film is God’s Not Dead and took out time to speak with The Global Dispatch/Dispatch Radio about the film, the powerful message and his other projects.

Shane Harper Kevin Sorbo Gods not dead“What I like about the movie is it brings in both sides,” Sorbo begins, noting that he plays the atheist Professor Radisson, “so you get that point of view and the opposing point of view.”

Shane Harper (Good Luck Charlie) plays the college student who stands up against Professor Radisson’s ‘God is dead’ statement.

Sorbo discusses this battle in schools (and on college campuses) and notes the movie cites real life lawsuits that have been spawned out of these conflicts.

Kevin Sorbo is a strong voice of his faith in Hollywood, discussing Bill Maher, encouraging Christians to stand up for their faith and that begins by supporting films like God’s Not Dead which will encourage more films like this to be made.

While reflecting on his famous role as Hercules or Captain Dylan Hunt on Andromeda, Sorbo says Netflix has caused a whole new generation of fans “binge watching” these shows.

He also confirmed his current project, The Secret Handshake, which is in production and co-stars Mark Collie, Amy Grant and J.J. Rodgers.

  1. Dale says:

Except he doesn’t portray both sides, or at least not fairly.

He portrays the side he likes as just ridiculously good and pure and awesome and moral and the side he doesn’t like as an absolute caricature with embarrassingly bad reasons for being an atheist, laughable arguments against faith and all round the exact opposite of any self respecting atheist. He probably got himself to play it because another actor may have played the role in such a way that there was something slightly redeemable about him, and of course Kevin couldn’t have that.

This isn’t an objective film where you get both sides, this is propaganda so heavy handed Kim Jong Un himself would be ashamed to produce it.
