Kevin Feige talks ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and how the film fits in MCU, Cosmo cameo

Sunday’s AMC Movie Talk focus was on Marvel’s upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy and one of the guests was Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige who discussed many details of the film, beginning why it was chosen.

Guardians of the Galaxy cast photo“All of us at the studio wanted to do something new, wanted to do something original … Excited about doing something, frankly, that most people had never heard of.”

Feige explained how Guardians will be set somewhere in the galaxy but will indeed fit into their upcoming threats to Earth.

“Couldn’t be more distant in geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy. Nevermind the themes and character interaction… there are a handful of characters you’ll see in this movie who will carry through to other films as threats to Earth.”

Feige hints at fan favorite Cosmo, but was coy with his response, “Couldn’t be more distant in geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy. Nevermind the themes and character interaction… there are a handful of characters you’ll see in this movie who will carry through to other films as threats to Earth.” (check out a photo below for those who don’t know who Cosmo is)

The Dan Abnett-Andy Lanning Guardians comic series is indeed an inspiration for the film, “Much of the line-up was inspired by that.”

Guardians of the Galaxy opens in 3D on August 1st.
