Kenneth Branagh delivers ‘Winter’s Tale’ as Judi Dench is brilliant

Fathom Events made the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s production of “The Winter’s Tale” accessible for audiences all over the globe and none should have been disappointed.

Live from London’s Garrick Theatre, Branagh and a remarkable group of actors joined Dame Judi Dench as Paulina to present a fantastic interpretation of Shakespeare’s timeless tragicomedy of obsession and redemption.

Branagh stars as King Leontes, the leader who appears to have everything: power, wealth, a loving family and friends, but jealousy sets in motion a chain of events with tragic consequences.

The cast includes Tom Bateman (Florizel), Jessie Buckley (Perdita), Hadley Fraser (Polixenes) and Miranda Raison (Hermione).

Great stage work, powerful performances and of course, Dench, made this a night to remember. The troupe has a busy year ahead and a production which delivers on this scale should truly excite fans.

Overall Winter’s Tale seemed to be complicated and lesser of Shakespeare’s plays, but Branagh’s team delivered and executed the work perfectly.
