Kenji Goto beheaded in latest ISIS video

The Islamic extremists group called Islamic State murder another hostage after blackmailing Japan for millions. Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa were hostages of ISIS, both brutally murdered by the Sunni Muslim group.
Prime Minister Abe declared himself “speechless” on Sunday, after video of Goto’s murder was posted by the terrorists. He insisted on his “indignation over this immoral and heinous act of terrorism.”

Japan’s media kept quiet about the kidnapping of the men in Syria after being asked to show concern for the lives of the hostages. The Japanese government knew as early as mid-November that both Goto and Yukawa were hostages of ISIS, but its efforts to negotiate for their safe return were conducted in secret.

ISIS later went public with videos and demands of millions to release the men and now bargain with Jordan over one of their citizen’s lives.

The militants revised their offer: Jordan should release female suicide bomber Sajida al-Rishawi.

Jordan countered with an offer demanding the release of Muath al-Kassasbeh, a Jordanian military pilot captured in Syria, in exchange for the suicide bomber. The militants have not said if that’s a consideration. ISIS said it would kill him if Jordan didn’t release al-Rishawi, a convicted terrorist.
