Ken Cuccinelli gets the Ron Paul endorsement in Virginia governor’s race
“I’m thrilled to have the support of Congressman Ron Paul. A true warrior in defense of our liberty and first principles. Thank you, Ron for all you have done for our country.”
This is what Republican gubernatorial candidate for governor of Virginia, AG Ken Cuccinelli posted on his Facebook wall yesterday after receiving the endorsement of former Texas Congressman and Presidential candidate, Dr. Ron Paul.
This endorsement clearly helps the Attorney General in his bid for Governor as Paul retains strong support and following from previous national political runs throughout the country.
In addition, Cuccinelli is hoping the endorsement helps him get voters who may have otherwise have voted for Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis, who some speculate is grabbing support from Cuccinelli.
Sarvis did grab the endorsement of 2012 Libertarian Presidential Candidate and former New Mexico governor, Gary Johnson in August.
In his endorsement letter, Ron Paul writes:
“Ken Cuccinelli has always stood for smaller government and limited government, he has consistently and unapologetically worked with the Liberty movement in Virginia. His stand against ObamaCare shows he is willing to stand up toWashington’s continued abuses on our individual liberties.I am proud to endorse Ken for Governor of Virginia.”
According to the most recent Real Clear Politics average of polling data, Democrat Terry McAuliffe holds a nearly 7 point lead over Cuccinelli, whether Sarvis is included in the poll or not.
