‘Justice League’ sequel delayed, ‘The Batman’ moves up
The DC Universe will be expanding over the next couple of years and Warner Bros is setting up the Justice League with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman being joined by Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman. Now comes news that the second Justice League film will be delayed and a Ben Affleck solo Batman film will move up.
The delay is said to be because of director Zack Snyder wanting to take a break from the production of the Justice League, which allows for the Batflick to be pushed up.
Ben Affleck has revealed in July 2015 that a standalone movie for “Batman” is in the works and his portrayal of the dark knight was a high point in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Affleck and Geoff Johns have already started working on the screenplay for The Batman with Affleck officially announced as the film’s director at the Comic Convention 2016.
The filming for The Batman is set to begin in spring 2017 and Affleck has teased earlier via Twitter that Deathstroke might be in it while Jared Leto has expressed interest in returning as Joker.
Snyder will be focusing on The Last Photograph, a project that he has been working on even before he took on Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice.
Warner Bros. is set to release Wonder Woman on June 2, 2017 with Justice League arriving on Nov. 17, 2017.
Justice League 2 was slated to release on June 14, 2019 but Ben Affleck’s The Batman will be taking the said release date instead.
The article title is currently, “‘Justlice League’ Sequel Delayed.” I initially thought the writer was insulting the movie by calling it “Just Lice” until I realized it was a typo.
