Julius Reynolds arrested in New Jersey Target after using a miror to spy on women in bathroom
A man was arrested for using a mirror to look up the dresses of women at a New Jersey Target store. Julius G. Reynolds was arrested after spying on unsuspecting female shoppers in the bathroom, a move highlighted by the recent transgender bathroom policy, opening the door for Reynolds and other men to enter the female restroom unhindered.
Reynolds, 56, was charged with invasion of privacy after Target department store workers said they saw him placing a basket with a mirror attached to it on the floor next to female shoppers and using the mirror to look up the dresses and skirts using their facilities.
According to Ocean PD Detective Lt. Timothy Torchia, Reynolds was arrested and is being held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution on a $7,500 bail.
Officer James Woodley “learned that a male subject posing as a shopper was inappropriately looking at female shoppers by use of a hand-held mirror,” said Torchia. That subject – Reynolds – “had the mirror in a basket that was then placed on the floor of the woman’s clothing section. He would then use the mirror to inapproporately look at female shoppers as they browsed clothing on the racks.”
Reynolds already has a police record for such inappropriate behavior: arrested in 2007 for using his cell phone to take inappropriate photos of women in public and was later handed a three-year sentence on the charge. Reynolds was placed on the New Jersey sex offender registry stemming from his 2008 conviction.
Additionally, the man has a criminal history including credit card fraud, drug offenses, and one conviction of child endangerment on his record.
Target was met with backlash and a boycott movement after announcing the open-bathroom transgender policy and now has the Flush Target group traveling to various stores to protest the move. Target stock has been on a massive slump since the announcement.
