Josh Trank talks ‘epic, huge’ battle in ‘Fantastic Four’ and team’s powers
Fans are mixed of the new Fantastic Four reboot with Chronicle director Josh Trank diverging from traditional Marvel mythos and origins. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B Jordan and Jamie Bell star as the new Four, facing off in an ‘epic, huge’ battle against Doctor Doom (Toby Kebbell), says Trank.
“The audience should expect an epic, massive, huge, multi power slugfest,” he teased to Entertainment Weekly. “This movie is big. A lot of stakes.”
The lastest TV spot, check it out below, just rehashes the same footage seen in other trailers, so it’s Trank detailing the appeal of this story and he contrasts FF with Chronicle.
“Chronicle was all about the discovery and evolution of those powers,” Trank says. “This is like, ‘What if it’s a couple years later and it sucks?’ ”
Everyone knows there’s pressure, but how much? Even more so given the franchise’s not-so-sterling reputation.
“I get the skepticism going into it because the previous movies weren’t very good,” says co-screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg of the 2005 and 2007 versions to EW. “It’s a very hard title to crack.”
