John Short admitted his crime of distributing Bible tracts, says interrogation was ‘grueling’
Australian born missionary John Short, who was arrested in North Korea last month for handing out Bible tracts in Pyongyang, says the interrogation he was under was “grueling”, according to an Associated Press report today.
The 13 day investigation involve 2 hour interrogations sessions each morning and then again in the afternoon.
Short said he “openly and honestly” admitted his crime as worded in the indictment concerning distributing Bible tracts and strongly denied he was a spy for South Korea or elsewhere.
North Korea eventually released Short, taking his age into consideration, on Monday. He face a 15 year prison term for the “crime”.
North Korea’s state news agency published his apology earlier this week.
Short said he confessed that he had knowingly broken the law in what he believed was his God-directed duty and as he did in every place and country he visited.
