Patrick responded saying that “Texas wanted to see that unity,” referring to Cornyn’s “conspicuous absence” during Cruz’ speech.
Cornyn pressed back, lamenting that if there was a government shutdown, Harry Reid would “blame” the GOP.
Patrick replied, “Do you think that back here in Texas, we give a damn about who’s blaming who?”
Cornyn started to bash FreedomWorks, an organization that has become a real force for conservatives.
Citing Cornyn’s questionable conservative record as tracked by FreedomWorks, Cornyn shot back that
“FreedomWorks is an organization that uses Republican on Republican violence…to raise money. That’s why they exist. They don’t exist to run against Democrats, they use it to try to divide Republicans, and I think they do a disservice to the party and they’ve undermined our ability to gain the majority and to govern.”
FreedomWorks and the Senate Conservatives fund posing a threat to the establishment Republicans in Washington was outed by Glenn Beck who noting the aggressive tone of Mitch McConnell during a recent broadcast.
