‘Jessica Jones’ season 2 confirmed by Netflix, ‘Punisher’ series possible
Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix, began his presentation to the Television Critics Association with a slew of announcements and among them was confirmation that Jessica Jones is getting a second season.
“We are thrilled to be making 13 additional episodes,” Sarandos said.
With new seasons of the Marvel shows and the Punisher rumors, Sarandos said he’s still focused on the five series Netflix originally announced: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
“We’re still on the five we originally announced,” he said.
Daredevil season two premieres in March. Timing on any further series or seasons is influx.
“The complex one is really running into The Defenders,” Sarandos said. “The Defenders production schedule will determine the production schedule of second and third seasons. It’s a work in progress.”
After his panel, Sarandos spoke with journalists further. At this point, the Punisher spinoff news is still just a possibility, as are any other spinoffs like Elektra.
“It’s always possible,” Sarandos said. “All the characters that spin out of that universe could also spin out. Any character who’s in there is on the table but it’s nothing I can talk about yet.”
No news on casting of Iron Fist. “It’s in progress,” Sarandos said.
