Jerrell Dorsey arrested, Chicago man accused of gunning down Heaven Sutton, girl selling snow cones in her yard
Heaven Suttonwas selling snow cones outside of her house when suspect Jerrell Dorsey, alleged gang member, opened fire on people gathered outside. He was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery.
“You’re a dangerous individual,” Judge Adam D. Bourgeois told Dorsey, according to The Chicago Tribune. “You’re dangerous people. No bail.”
Heaven Sutton was with her mother Wednesday night when police say someone walked up to another group of people and opened fire down the street. The girl was struck by a stray bullet as she ran away.
Dorsey’s lawyer, Eric Dunham, said Dorsey was in the area when the girl was shot but was not the gunman.
“You’ll rot in jail!” relatives of the murdered girl shouted to the suspect as he was led from the court, the newspaper said. “You ain’t gonna sleep!”
Dorsey was reportedly emotionless as prosecutors claimed he fired 10 times into a group of people outside the Sutton home, where Heaven had set up a “home candy stand.”
Dorsey, allegedly a member of the 4 Corner Hustlers, was shooting into a crowd that included rivals belonging to the Mafia Insane Vice Lords gang, prosecutors said.
